Stewards

Stewards are volunteers trusted with the ability to manage SkyWiki's day to day operations.

Appointment

Stewards may either nominate themselves or be nominated by others by submitting a request at Request for permissions. To be approved, a request must meet the following criteria:

  • Remain open for a minimum of five days
  • Receive votes from at least five users
  • Attain a minimum support ratio of 67% (2/3)

Removal

Stewards may be removed at any time for the following reasons:

  1. Revocation request: A request to revoke a steward's permissions must remain open for five days, receive at least 50% support, and have at least five voters.
  2. Inactivity: Stewards who have been inactive for three months may be removed.
  3. Resignation: A steward in good standing may request their permissions back without an RfP if they resigned within the past 12 hours.

Role of Stewards

Stewards collaborate with wiki communities to address local issues, such as disputes and abusive or disruptive behavior. They may assign permissions to themselves or other users as needed to support the community. Additionally, they can exercise administrator functions, including blocking, deleting, and protecting pages.

Beyond local responsibilities, stewards oversee global SkyWiki-wide matters, including handling cross-wiki disruptions, assigning global groups, locking accounts, and renaming users.

Stewards are the only users authorized to serve as CheckUser and Suppressor on a SkyWiki-wide basis. Most wikis do not have locally elected CheckUsers or Suppressors.
